FC Augsburg in immediate need of a change

It is not hard to notice the deep struggle Augsburg find themselves trapped in. Their whole season has been poor.

Augsburg started the campaign with a 1-0 home loss to Hertha Berlin and the next three fixtures still failed to see an improvement. It was matchday five when Augsburg finally tasted victory for the first time this season, in a vital 2-0 home win over Hannover 96.

The moment was short lived, however, as Augsburg lost their last two matches against the struggling Borussia Monchengladbach and Hoffenheim, conceding a combined seven goals. It is mystifying witnessing this side’s discouraging start to the Bundesliga season, especially when in contrast of their fifth place triumph in the 2014-15 season that saw Markus Weinzierl and his side gain entry into the Europa League.

It is obvious there is a spark missing for Augsburg. The strikers have not scored a single goal and the top scorer is right-back Paul Verhaegh.

If Augsburg are to endure another successful season, it is a requisite that they quickly improve, starting away to Leverkusen.
