Burnley are about to slash their record club transfer fee for Derby County midfielder Jeff Hendrick according to the BBC.

The Clarets have offered Hendrick a deal worth £10 million to acquire his services from the Championship side, beating their previous record fee of £8 million.

This was the second time that Burnley have approached the 24-year-old, as their initial bid was rejected in the early stages of the window.

The deal is estimated to go through after the Irishman passes his medical.

The move to Turf Moor would be a welcome addition for Sean Dyche’s men, as Hendrick was one of the breakout stars in the European Championships earlier in the summer and was part of the Republic of Ireland’s dream run in the tournament.

Hendrick has recorded over 190 appearances for Derby since beginning his professional career at Pride Park Stadium in 2010, returning 22 goals for the Rams.

Burnley currently sit 13th on the Premier League ladder, having most recently suffered a 3-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after defeating Liverpool 2-0 at home.
