Hernandez rescues Leverkusen from potential disappointment.

Despite it being a scrappy contest in some instances, it was a fantastic outcome for the visitors. Roger Schmidt and his men complimented their previous 5-0 dismantling of Borussia Monchengladbach with three points away to a considerably tough opponent.

Before Hernandez struck the winning goal, the match seemed to be developing into a stalemate. In patches the inconsistency was still visible.

Leverkusen struggled to get a firm hold of possession (52%), in most of their outings they have significant control. The midfield simply was not clicking with the forwards, it was poor service for the majority of proceedings.

Hakan Calhanoglu was far from his best which diminished the creative spark. While Bellarabi was the one to engineer a good enough pass to tee up the match-winner.

This victory marks back-to-back domestic wins for Leverkusen, for just the third time this campaign. Leverkusen are now presented with a glorious chance to win three in a row, something they are yet to achieve this season. A third consecutive victory could be huge in their bid for top four, it would establish some consistency and momentum.
