Ingolstadt were defeated 1-0 by Bayer Leverkusen in a rather dull contest overnight.

The deadlock was broken in the 73rd minute by who else than Javier Hernandez. Karim Bellarabi fed the ball to the Mexican who made no mistake, firing over the head of goalkeeper Orjan Haskjold Nyland. The fans did not have a whole lot to be excited about as the action was scarce throughout. Few shots and few thrills, one of the most entertaining parts of the match was when Omer Toprak forced the ball out for a goal-kick, resulting in Danny da Costa bundling over a barrier and into the cameraman.

Both defensive lines were impressive, making it extremely difficult for the opposition to breach. Ingolstadt failed to convert a couple of great chances, while most of Leverkusen’s attempts were hopeful launches from outside the box that failed to trouble the Ingolstadt shot-stopper. But none of that matters as the three points were claimed from just one clinical attempt.

It was an underwhelming clash that could have gone either way, both teams were almost even in every aspect of proceedings. The result momentarily sees Leverkusen break into fourth spot, while Ingolstadt sit in 11th.
