Bayern Munich

Manuel Neuer – 6: Had very little to do over the course of the 90 minutes but was there to deny Stroh-Engel and thwart any long balls sent up to the centre-forward.

Juan Bernat – 4.5: Offered support to Coman down the left-flank going forward but was found out defensively by Heller. Follows on from his unsteady defensive performance against Olympiacos in midweek.

David Alaba – 5.5: Hardly tested.

Jerome Boateng – 5.5: Was rarely tested defensively but was somewhat shaky.

Rafinha – 6: Except for the one moment when Gondorf was able to get a cross in in the first half, Rafinha was untested and his marauding runs drew defenders away from Costa which allowed him to cut inside and trouble Darmastadt.

Joshua Kimmich – 6: Kept Kempe quiet throughout the entire game and performed relatively well as a shield in front of the back four when called upon.

Kingsley Coman – 6.5: Carried on from midweek with a decent performance. Never gave the defence a moment of peace with his pace and trickery, but his final ball needs improvement.

Arturo Vidal – 7: Produced an energetic performance. Combined well with Coman and Rode throughout the game and capped it all off with his first Bundesliga goal.

Sebastian Rode – 8.5: Was the clear man of the match. His energy and vision was a constant menace to the Darmstadt back four. Did brilliantly to set up Coman for the second goal and showed persistence in scoring the third.

Douglas Costa – 7.5: Was a nightmare for the back line of Darmstadt all day with his pace and movement creating space for those around him.

Mario Gotze – 5.5: Had very little impact on the game until the introduction of Thomas Muller which allowed Gotze to drop deeper off the striker.

Substitutes

Javi Martinez – 5.5: Returned to the team after injury and added to the experience and helped Bayern control the game.

Thomas Muller – 5.5: Was introduced in the 68th minute for Costa.

Xabi Alonso – 5:  Put fans’ mind at ease when named on the bench after he picked up an injury in Greece on Wednesday. Came on in the 72nd minute for Jerome Boateng.
