Tavares left out

After keeping budding star Terry Antonis out for large parts of last season, it was a surprise for many to see holding midfielder Mickael Tavares listed as a substitute prior to kick off. Graham Arnold opted for Brandon O’Neill and the youngster was industrious all night long. A tidy passer of the ball, he put himself about and, after an early onslaught, weathered an array of City’s forward forays. In fact, it was his decisive pass that played in Brosque who then squared to an unmarked Holosko for the equaliser.

Arnold now faces a tough decision with arguably one of last season’s best defensive midfielders on the bench but can he really drop O’Neill after that man of the match performance?
