It was back-to-back bore draws for the Sky Blues as their poor home form continued against Wellington Phoenix at Allianz Stadium on Thursday night.

A real midfield battle ensued in the opening 45 minutes and both sides were limited to shots from outside the box. Glen Moss made a great save in the 12th minute but was otherwise not challenged. Roly Bonevacia had the best chance for Wellington in the 33rd minute but failed to hit the target.

The second half failed to gain any momentum in a real stop-start affair in the Harbour City. The better of the chances fell to the Sydney players but they failed to take advantage and have to be happy with a point at home to a strong Wellington side.

Sydney FC

Vedran Janjetovic – 6: Had very little to do in the Sydney goal.

Alex Gersbach – 6: Consistent game at the back.

Seb Ryall – 7: Another solid performance in the absence of Faty, could give Arnold some selection headaches next week.

Matt Jurman – 6.5: Controlled the back four well and was able to keep the Phoenix forwards quiet.

Rhyan Grant – 5.5: Was good defensively but was a bit sloppy in his passing game.

Mickael Tavares – 7: Was very good in the middle of the park and showed fantastic composure on the ball.

Milos Dimitrijevic – 5: Was unusually sloppy in possession and hit a number of poor passes.

Alex Brosque – 6: Tried his best to tip the game in his team’s favour but failed to take advantage when it really mattered. The best chance of the game fell to his feet in the 58th minute but he failed to hit the target. He was unlucky not to find the back of the net late in the game when his shot struck the upright.

Milos Ninkovic – 5: Struggled to get into the game and failed to have any influence.

Filip Holosko – 6: Looked dangerous at times but was lacking the service to really be able to influence the game as he would have liked too.

Shane Smeltz – 4.5: Again another poor performance from Smeltz and Arnold may decide to change things for the Sky Blues in the front front third next week with two goalless games in a row.

Substitutions

Brandon O’Neill – 6: Came off the bench to anchor the midfield and did his job well.

Andrew Hoole – 5: Showed a lot of energy and effort off the bench but lacked the conviction needed in the final third.

Matt Simon – 5.5: Had a couple of half-chances but failed to influence the match.
