Newcastle Jets

Mark Birighitti – 7: A winning return from injury. Made a crucial save on Fornaroli which would have killed the game.

Jason Hoffman – 6: Tormented in the early stages but improved after half time.

Daniel Mullen – 7: Applied himself well. After a tough opening period his concentration levels improved drastically.

Nigel Boogaard – 7: Highly aggressive when marking Fornaroli and reliable in aerial battles when City were on top.

Lee Ki-Je – 7: Struggled with the pace of the contest early, but showed great endurance in supporting attacks.

Ben Kantarovski – 7: Rose well for the Jets’ first goal. A brick wall at defensive midfield after half time.

Enver Alivodic – 8: Newcastle’s biggest threat in a poor first half. His work-rate made him an even bigger handful in the second.

Matteo Poljak – 7: Struggled early but helped to nullify Mooy’s influence in the final 30 minutes.

David Carney – 8: Heavily involved early without the final product. Kept trying, and was a key cog in the Jets’ revival.

Mitch Cooper – 4: Struggled to get into the game at all. Replaced at half time by Cameron Watson.

Milos Trifunovic – 9: A second half brace will do wonders for the striker’s confidence. Movement was brilliant and could have had a hat-trick on another day.

Substitutes

Cameron Watson – 8: Helped to get Newcastle back into the match with his substitution changing the midfield dynamic. His calm distribution and work ethic was commendable.
