John Aloisi’s Brisbane Roar have moved into second on the A-League table following a 3-0 win over Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium.

An early goal to Brandon Borello gave Brisbane the advantage early, but the Reds battled in search of an equaliser. A second goal to Borello and a late finish from an energetic Jamie MacLaren completed a comfortable victory for the Roar, the scoreboard hardly reflective of the visitor’s effort, but an accurate representation of Brisbane’s class and finish.

Brisbane Roar

Jamie Young – 6: Denied the Reds on multiple occasions after an early scare.

Jack Hingert – 6: Beaten by Craig Goodwin, but handled Sergio Cirio well.

Shane Stefanutto – 4: His top-knot drew more attention than his football. Substituted off in the 81st for Corey Brown.

Daniel Bowles – 7: Was alert deep in defense, denying Marcelo Carrusca and a blistering run from Tarek Elrich.

Jade North – 6: Ventured into attack at will early in the first-half, but rarely had an impact later on.

Corona – 7: Looked ill at ease early, with the Reds locking down on the Spanish playmaker, but found his groove before halftime and was excellent in the latter stages.

Matt McKay – 8: Was energetic early, a looping pass to Broich leading to the Roar’s first goal. Had a hand in two goals and found his strikers in space all night.

Thomas Broich – 8: A clinic in passing from the veteran, he found Borello for the opener and created opportunities for Brisbane to score throughout the game.

Dimitri Petratos – 5: Was solid in holding up the play early. Faded later in the first-half, and was substituted in the 72nd for Steve Lustica.

Jamie MacLaren – 9: Tormented by John Hall early, but finally found the back of the net in the 79th after dancing around Elrich, sealing the win. Covered the ground well before coming off in final minutes.

Brandon Borello – 9: Maintained his excellent form, slamming home the Roar’s first in the ninth minute before completing his second brace in as many home games in the 92nd. Provided speed and precision.

Substitutes

Corey Brown – N/A: Substituted on in the 81st for Stefanutto, and did not have many opportunities to contribute.

Steven Lustica – 7: Replaced Dimitri Petratos and was lively, working in tandem with Clut.
