Why can’t Newcastle play like this all the time?

After their game with Chelsea ended in a draw, a seemingly frustrated Mourinho pointed out the Magpies choose when they want to play well. Although he was upset, you could hardly disagree with him – Newcastle’s fortunes do tend to play out this way. They are still winless and could have lost this game but must be applauded as their performance was impressive, particularly in the first half. Of course this was nothing new for Newcastle as they now have Chelsea winless in four consecutive visits to St. James’ Park.

Everton show resilience in comeback

After going 2-0 down to West Brom, Everton looked down and out. Yet they fought back to record a resounding 3-2 win. Romelu Lukaku inspired this turnaround in the second half, scoring a clinical brace either side of his assist for Arouna Kone which turned out to be the match winner. The result leaves West Brom winless at home so far in the Premier League, something uncharacteristic of a Tony Pulis team. On the contrary, the win moved high-flying Everton to fifth, where they should be. The question is whether Roberto Martinez can elevate this team full of talent to challengers for the Champions League places.
