West Ham United have announced the signing of Juventus and Italian striker Simone Zaza on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Hammers chairman David Gold revealed the news via his own personal Twitter account before the club’s account had unveiled their latest signing.

The 25-year-old’s initial loan move will cost the club £5 million, but could rise as high as £25 million if they choose to make the move permanent.

Zaza’s arrival caps off a busy summer for the East London club who have spent in excess of £60 million for a total of 11 new players at the club.

“I want to thank everyone for welcoming me including the fans and everyone at the Club. I wanted to start a new experience and I feel this is the right choice for me,” Zaza told whufc.com.

“I have been fortunate enough to have already played at the new Stadium with a different shirt. It is a beautiful stadium and I felt the warmth of the fans and this was a big reason why I wanted to join the club.”

“I want to become a better player and I know I can do that at West Ham. Unfortunately, we could not qualify for the Europa League, but I am hoping I can help the club do that next season.”

The centre forward has already scored at his new home, the Olympic Stadium, when the Hammers hosted the reigning Italian champions in a pre-season friendly earlier this month.
