Bayern Munich continued their perfect start to the Bundesliga season when they recorded an emphatic 5-1 victory against Wolfsburg thanks to a truly inspired Robert Lewandowski, who netted five goals in a mere nine second half minutes.

Wolfsburg controlled the first half of the encounter. Bayern dominated possession, but the likes of Luis Gustavo, Dante and Naldo kept the home side’s attacking force at bay. Dieter Hecking’s side also posed a threat going forward as Julian Draxler, Bas Dost and Daniel Caligiuri terrorised an unsteady defence, which eventually caved in as Caligiuri smashed home after a great pass from Draxler over the top.

Everything changed in the second half when Robert Lewandowski was introduced for the underwhelming Thiago. In a crazy nine-minute spell the Polish striker found the back of the net five times. Impressively, the goals were all top class – his final goal, an acrobatic volley from the edge of the box was the pick of the punch.

There was no coming back after those nine remarkable minutes and all Wolfsburg could, and did do, was try to prevent any more goals from hitting the back of their net.
