Giallorossi throw it away

Roma had it signed, sealed and delivered. At 4-2 with less than 10 minutes to go, the visitors had seemed to turn their Champions League campaign around. Had they beaten Leverkusen, they would have only need to neat Bayer and Bate at home, and qualification to the last 16 would have been assured. But two late goals from a defiant home side denied Roma what would have been their first away win in the Champions League for five years.

Now Rudi Garcia’s men still sit bottom of Group E and have it all to do. The Giallorossi are two points behind second place Leverkusen and face the German side at the Stadio Olimpico next. They still could qualify with six points from their final three games, but it appears more and more likely that they will need a result at the Camp Nou against Barcelona. It is very much in Roma’s hands, but a win in the next matchday is crucial.
