Watford make United work
Watford deserve their fair share of credit in this game. Coming up against a team with a superb defensive record like United, the home side could have been forgiven for dropping their heads when the visitors snatched an early lead. But they dug in a fought it out, in windy and often tricky conditions.
As United failed to put them away, their confidence grew and their early attempts at an equaliser were denied by a string of brilliant saves by David De Gea. That the Spanish stopper was again one of United’s best, is a real credit to the way that Watford fought their way back into what was shaping up to be a tough afternoon.
