Nathan Ake’s red card proved costly as 10-man Watford were denied a point against Tottenham at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets have made quite an impact in the Premier League this season, but their five-match unbeaten run came to a shattering end courtesy of Son Heung-min’s winner on 89 minutes.

Odion Ighalo cancelled out Erik Lamela’s first-half goal to send the two sides in level at halftime.

However, the second-half took a turn for the worst for the home side when Ake was shown a red card for his challenge on goalscorer Lamela.

The Chelsea loanee caught Lamela studs first and high on the leg when attempting to collect the ball. After taking some time, referee Antony Taylor produced a straight red for the left-back.

With the Hornet’s a man down, things were about to get extremely difficult against a quality Spurs outfit.

The extra man eventually paid-off when Mauricio Pochettino’s men worked the ball out wide for Kieran Trippier, whose cross was cleverly flicked on by Heung-min to break Watford hearts.

The sending-off means that 20-year-old Ake will miss the next three games, including the visit of Manchester City on Saturday.

So for his horror challenge which handicapped his side and led to Watford dropping the game late, Ake is Outside 90’s Villain of Matchday 19.
