Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) over a naming rights deal for the redeveloped White Hart Lane.

The deal rumoured by the The Times could net Spurs £150m as negotiations are intensified with the news that Spanish powerhouse Barcelona’s current deal with Qatari is set to end next summer.

A total of roughly 300 companies have been approached in relation to different sponsorship deals for the new stadium, which includes NFL matches in the summer of 2018.

Spurs initially hoped to finalise a deal of £25m per year, however those figures have been lowered due to market condition problems.

The naming rights has always been a fraught issue for clubs trying to broker deals, with West Ham yet to finalise a sponsorship partner for the Olympic Stadium and even Chelsea not able to secure a company to sponsor Stamford Bridge when they submitted proposals in 2009.

North London rivals Arsenal were able to secure £100m over 15 years for the Emirates naming rights in 2006, and that deal has been extended.
