The transfer window has come to an end with more than £1 billion spent in the Premier League for the first time.

Outside90’s Tim Roberts takes a look at the top five EPL transfers of the summer.

David Luiz from Paris Saint Germain to Chelsea

Luiz has returned to Chelsea after a successful stint at French giants PSG. Arguably the biggest shock of the transfer window, the Brazilian will bolster new manager Antonio Conte’s defensive stocks.

The 29-year-old made 81 league appearances for the Blues between 2011 and 2014 before being sold across the English Channel in a record £50m deal for a defender. The deadline day transfer worth £34m has aroused plenty of excitement among the fans at Stamford Bridge.

Paul Pogba from Juventus to Manchester United

In another reunion, United purchased Pogba for an all-time record €105m transfer from the Italian champions and has so far looked likely to live up to his price tag.

Since first departing Old Trafford for free in 2012, the 23-year-old has grown to be regarded as one of the finest midfielders in the world and will play a vital role in Jose Mourinho’s rejuvenation of the Premier League’s most successful club.

Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United to Tottenham Hotspur

It was a hectic deadline day for the Frenchman but he eventually sealed his move to Tottenham..

It looked like a potential switch to Everton was in the offing, as the Merseyside club were willing to pay his hefty £30m price tag, but Spurs decided to match the bid late in the day.

The 27-year-old is a workhorse in the midfield and will be a valuable addition at White Hart Lane.

Islam Slimani from Sporting Lisbon to Leicester City

The champions finally got their man for a fee of £29.7m.

The Algerian’s link up play with international team-mate Riyad Mahrez will be highly anticipated in the attacking third.

The 28-year-old netted 48 times in 61 starts for Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon and will provide strong competition up-front for the incumbent Premier League Player of the Season, Jamie Vardy.

Saido Mane from Southampton to Liverpool

The Senegalese winger was snapped up for a princely sum of £30m, and while it is still early days, he has already proved to be one of Liverpool’s most influential players.

The 24-year-old is skilful, has a great eye for goal and will provide the Reds with some much needed pace.

Among other things, Mane is renowned for scoring the fastest hat-trick in Premier League history – against Aston Villa in the 2014-15 season.
