Matthieu Delpierre (Melbourne Victory)

Following his move to Melbourne Victory at the start of the 2014-15 season, experienced French defender Matthieu Delpierre made an immediate impact. In the opening match of the season, Delpierre scored in the Victory’s 4-1 win against Asian champions Western Sydney Wanderers before injury blighted his season. Four months on the sidelines did little to deter the former Bundesliga player, as he returned just in time to help Melbourne Victory to the league and grand final double.

With experience in France’s Ligue 1 and in particular the Bundesliga where he played a crucial role in Stuttgart’s league championship success in 2007, Delpierre will be looking to hold down a regular place in Kevin Muscat’s team as the club looks to defend the title. Delpierre’s experience will aid the Victory as they look to take their domestic form to the Asian Champions League and qualify for this year’s FFA Cup final.
