City’s current form
Although the Citizens currently top the Premier League, their recent form has certainly not been on par with their early season brilliance. Since Aguero and Silva have been injured, City have struggled on a few occasions and have even had to grind out victories against lowly opposition. City have conceded in five of their last six league games and, compare that to them keeping clean sheets in all of their opening five league encounters, it is clear something is not right. Key absences in defence have also been a weary factor for Manuel Pellegrini as he will hope for a better performance from his back line.
City are clearly not playing at their best at the moment and with Aguero still out injured, Garde’s Villa side might just see this as an opportunity to come away with something. However, the Frenchman will have to work hard to get something out of his struggling strike force. Villa have only scored 10 goals in the league this season (only Stoke City have scored less with nine).
