Saturday night finishes up in Western Australia, as Perth Glory aim for a possible chance at the top six when they take on Brisbane Roar at nib Stadium.

Perth chasing their 5th straight victory

Perth’s win against Sydney last round not only marked consecutive away wins for the West Australians, but was a show of intent heading into the pointy end of the campaign. Back at home, Kenny Lowe’s men will be chasing their fifth straight victory, an incredible feat considering they had managed just two wins in the 14 games prior. Given they are undefeated in their last three home clashes against the Queenslanders, they have got as good a chance as ever at downing yet another top six side, and ending the round in equal sixth spot with Sydney on the ladder.

Brisbane’s draw with Newcastle

After bouncing back from their horror fortnight with a 3-1 win over Sydney FC last weekend, the Roar were back to picking up the pieces as they were held to a 2-2 draw against a struggling Newcastle side in Brisbane. Although the Jets are considered Brisbane’s ‘bogey side’, having picked up more wins than losses at Suncorp Stadium, their defensive work in the first half showed that despite leading the competition there is still a long way to go if they’re to win the championship.

Roar love playing Glory

On the topic of ‘bogey sides’, Brisbane back up from their surprise draw against Newcastle with a trip to face a side who they love beating; the Roar have won over 50% of these two sides’ clashes since the A-League’s commencement. But the Roar don’t just head to Western Australia with history in their favour, they have also pulled off two wins over Perth already this campaign, and are undefeated in the fixture’s past four encounters. If Brisbane are to again flex their muscles over the Glory they will pick up their first set of back-to-back away wins this campaign and continue to hold top spot in the league.
