Diego Costa’s stoppage time equaliser meant Louis van Gaal and Guus Hiddink’s sides could not be separated for the second time this season, in a tight battle at Stamford Bridge where both goalkeepers produced top-notch performances.

Thibaut Courtois

The Belgian made a series of top-drawer saves to deny a Manchester United outfit that continually edged the contest when it was locked at 0-0. Could not do a thing about Lingard’s spin and half-volley and his earlier stops made the last minute equaliser a possibility.

Jesse Lingard

Another tight, tense battle between two of Premier League’s big clubs was dependent on a piece of quality or an error to come to life. The 23-year old produced the former, with a stunning half-volley on the turn which arrowed into the top right-hand corner – two goals in a week for a player who is making the most of his first-team opportunity.

David De Gea

Much like Courtois at the opposite end of the pitch, but his performance really stood out when Chelsea took over the game as soon as they began to trail. His save to beat away Ivanovic’s powerful volley was brilliantly instinctive and he was able to deny Costa a game-winner, with superb concentration to remain rooted to his spot when the majority of the far corner beckoned for his compatriot.

Honourable mentions: Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial, Chris Smalling, Diego Costa.
