A new manager will hopefully herald in a new era among the red half of Manchester, but will it be enough to reinvigorate on of their most loved players?

In the build up to Sunday’s Community Shield between Leicester and Man United, the gang at oulala.com have taken an individual look at a host of key stats covering Rooney’s last four seasons in the Premier League at Old Trafford, following Jose Mourinho’s comments that he will play his captain in an attacking role.

The Red Devils veteran will hope the ‘Special One’s’ arrival changes his fortunes on the pitch, with 2015-16 proving largely to be a a forgettable campaign with Louis van Gaal at the helm.

Across the majority of key attacking areas the 30-year-old registered his worst form of the four seasons analysed, returning just eight individual goals from 28 appearances and providing only six assists for teammates. His distribution was lacking with an average of just 34 successful passes per game, and played little role in the team’s overall momentum creating an average of 1.5 chances on goal.
