Real Betis
Antonio Adán – 5.5: An unfortunate night for the goalkeeper. Produced a great save to deny Torres, however, saw his save fall perfectly to Koke to find the back of the net. An injury in the second-half will also be a concern for Betis.
Cristiano Piccini – 5: Was up to the task of containing the tricky Carrasco. Did enough to prevent quality crosses from the Belgian, however, was beaten on numerous occasions.
Bruno – 4: A poor performance by the centre-back. Did not protect Adán or Giménez enough and if not for wasteful shooting from Atléti, his side could have lost by a larger margin.
Heiko Westermann – 4: Like Bruno, the German failed to protect his goals and gave Atléti too much time and space to shoot.
Varela -5: Provided dangerous crosses into the box as he was always willing to make forward runs. Defensively solid, but was missing for the goal.
Xavi Torres – 3.5: A poor performance from the experienced midfielder. The Spaniard was replaced just after halftime for strategic reasons as Atléti controlled the midfield.
Alfred N’Diaye – 5: Tireless display by the central-midfielder. Tried a few long range efforts in hope of an equaliser.
Joaquín – 4.5: The veteran midfielder did not have as much influence as much as his side would have liked. His set pieces were dealt with easily. Replaced in the second-half.
Didier Digard – 4.5: The midfielder struggled as Atléti controlled possession. Came off late on in the game injured after Betis had no more substitutes, leaving his side with 10 men.
Álvaro Cejudo – 5.5: Betis’ best player by far. Tried to be the difference maker a number of times and came close with his long range effort that was exceptionally denied by Oblak with an acrobatic save.
Rubén Castro – 5: Alongside Cejudo, continuously worked hard to get his side back into the game, however, was well marshaled by Godín and Savić.
Substitutes
Dani Ceballos – 4.5: Came on after halftime to replace the ineffective Xavi Torres.
Dani Giménez – 5: Replaced the injured Adán. Was lucky to see out the game without conceding any goals.
Jorge Molina – N/A: Came on late on in hope of trying to find an equaliser, but had no such impact.
