Melbourne Victory

Danny Vukovic – 8: Melbourne’s best. Made a brilliant save to deny Castro and did well not to concede a penalty in his challenge with Harold.

Jason Geria – 7: Very quiet, as most of the play went down the left hand side. Got himself more involved in the second half and linked well with Barbarouses.

Giancarlo Gallifuoco – 6: Was enjoying a strong performance at the back for most of the game, although Harold’s pace did test him. However, his timid challenge on Reiners led directly to Castro’s winner.

Leigh Broxham – 7: Under pressure early, but recovered from a slow start to keep Reiners quiet.

Dylan Murnane – 6: Perth looked to expose him early but dealt with it well. Replaced Daniel Georgievski in the lineup but could not offer the same attacking threat from fullback Georgievski does.

Rashid Mahazi – 6: Quiet game in the middle of the park. Did well to close down the Glory’s options in midfield, but was sloppy at times with the ball.

Oliver Bozanic – 7: Cool and composed in midfield. Linked well with Finkler to create some of the Victory’s best moments in the first half. The visitors missed his composure when he was subbed off.

Gui Finkler – 7: Started strongly in the first half and was Melbourne’s best at the time. Put Perth under the pump multiple times with his probing passes. Found himself marked a lot tighter in the second half as Melbourne lost their grip on the game and was less noticeable.

Kosta Barbarouses – 7: Found himself well guarded by Warren in the first half, but still showed flashes off how dangerous he can be. Should’ve had an assist for Berisha in the second, and remained lively as they searched for an equaliser.

Besart Berisha – 6: Slow start, but worked his way into the game. Nearly scored with a superb solo effort, only to be stopped by Warren. Then hit the bar in the second half from a good position in a slightly disappointing outing.

Fahid Ben Khalfallah – 6: Started positively, and looked energetic early. But the talismanic attacker faded as the game went on and was replaced early in the second half.

Substitutes

Connor Pain – 6: Bar one dangerous run, found the going tough against Williams.

Jesse Makarounas – 5: Barely noticeable. Very quiet against his old club.

George Howard – N/A: Came on too late to make an impact.
