Miralem Pjanic showed positive signs in his first outing for Juventus in tonight’s 2-1 win over Tottenham in the International Champions Cup.

Pjanic played he opening 65 minutes and had some classy passages of play in midfield, highlighted by his assist for one-time Roma teammate Mehdi Benatia in the 12th minute.

He said the most pleasing thing to come from tonight’s match was the increased intensity and a clean bill of health.

“The most important is that nobody’s injured, we played a good game – of course, we have things to do better but we showed some positive signs today,” Pjanic said.

“I think the intensity was good – we have some things to do better though, we lost the ball a bit too much in the game.

“But this is normal, it’s just the beginning but I thought the team played well and nobody’s injured which is the most important thing.”

With Claudio Marchisio on the sidelines and uncertainty surrounding Paul Pogba, the signing of Pjanic shapes as an interesting one ahead of the upcoming campaign.

After crossing from the Stadio Olimpico, Pjanic mentioned it was a great experience to make his first appearance for the Old Lady.

“It was nice to wear the Juventus jersey for the first time in an actual game,” Pjanic said.

“I was very happy, I’m here to prepare the best possible way for the new season.”

The win against Tottenham marked Juventus’ final game in Melbourne for this year’s ICC, with a crowd of 31,447 watching on.

Pjanic said he and his teammates were looking forward to arriving home and getting to work with a full squad ahead of the new Serie A campaign.

“I’ve just been here for one month so I’m learning with everyone, when we arrive back in Turin the others will also come back.

“We’re a good team and we’ll do great things this year.”
