Italy are through to the Euro 2016 quarter-finals after they defeated Spain 2-0 in Lille.

Goals from Giorgio Chiellini and Graziano Pelle steered Italy to a famous victory, who completely out-thought and out-worked an underperforming Spanish side.

Eder hit a free-kick that stung the hands of David De Gea and Chiellini was on hand to poke in the rebound and give his side the lead.

In the dying moments of the game, Span committed everyone forward and it was Pelle who would put the final nail in the coffin of the reigning European champions.

Iceland recored the most remarkable victory, after coming back from one goal down to defeat England 2-1 in a pulsating encounter.

England got off to a flying start when Daniel Sturridge’s floated cross played in Raheem Sterling, who was chopped down in the box by goalkeeper Hannes Thór Halldórsson.

Wayne Rooney took responsibility and calmly slotted the ball with a low-footed drive to give England the ascendancy.

However, their lead would last barely a minute when Ragnar Sigurdsson latched onto a looping header from Kári Arnason to shock England level the match.

Shock then turned to belief on 18 minutes after Kolbeinn Sigthorsson struck a shot which crept past the outstretched arm of Joe Hart and over the line, with the England goalkeeper again culpable for some weak shot-stopping.

England failed to create any clear-cut goalscoring opportunities in the second half, as Iceland’s discipline and defensive pressure came to the fore.
