Andre Schubert must hope for a positive Johnson prognosis

When Fabian Johnson limped off in the second half before the crazy moments occurred, Gladbach fans must have feared the worst. Johnson has been Gladbach’s best player of late, seemingly unable to stop scoring, and the loss of the American to injury following that of Andre Hahn would be a massive blow. Schubert may need to begin easing his side home into the winter break on the back of some tough games, and having a fit squad to take in and rest will be a much better proposition than an injury-riddled group.

City show fight their fans have longed for

A paltry loss to Stoke preceded this crucial Champions League clash and with stars like Sergio Aguero sitting out through injury, City fans had reason to worry about the visit of Monchengladbach. Qualification was not in doubt, but the chance to avoid a Madrid or Barcelona in the next round was. Outplayed for much of the first half, the visitors threatened to cut City open, but to their credit the home side held strong despite going into the break a goal down.

On the other side, almost a new team. Manuel Pellegrini’s side exploited gaps and found new passing lanes, and its incredible turnaround in the last 15 minutes is exactly what fans have looked for after a topsy-turvy last few weeks.
