Zlatan may be in his swansong but is still one of the best

It happens to every footballer when they begin a season unable to replicate form of the past, the whispers and rumours begin that they are over the hill. It is no different for the talismanic Swede. Having not scored so far this season, his detractors were ready and waiting to announce a death of Zlatan’s PSG career, but they will have to keep waiting. The legendary striker was imperious once again, a neat finish to make the scoreline 3-0 highlighting a terrific performance. Assisting on Pastore’s opener and having his shot parried that led to Di Maria’s goal, it was a complete performance from the veteran. Despite having a tame penalty saved late by Jonas Lössl, ‘Ibra’ is well and truly not finished yet.

Rotation could be key for PSG

After resting several first team players last weekend, the team against Guingamp was back to its familiar strength, even with Thiago Silva on the bench. Blanc’s policy for rotating players could be key to PSG’s success later on in the season, still without loss in 2015-16, key members of the squad will benefit from rest, in particular, older players like Ibrahimovic. The policy will not affect key Champions League or domestic games, but against weaker opposition it is likely fringe players and youngsters will get a chance to impress. Even so early on this season, Les Parisiens already look like champions and it would be a shock to most if they could not hold on for the remainder.
