Javier Pastore is an unsung gem

It is hard to measure Javier Pastore’s quality, he would not be playing at this high a level if he was not a true talent, but the Argentine can be hot and cold at times to say the least. From a youngster with great potential, it seems his star has dimmed, however, during this match he shone. Always looking to create for himself or others, he became the go-to man for PSG before being replaced by the fresh Marco Verrati. The PSG midfield three has been spoken about before and it is going to be hard for Pastore to break into that setup, but if he can keep up performances like this he will certainly have a chance.

Marco Verratti = Game changer

While Pastore was great, there is no doubt adding Verratti in the second-half was the spark PSG needed to really take control of the game. Despite dominating the statistics, it was not until Verrati’s arrival that the game was secured, thanks to goals from Ibrahimovic and Di Maria. While not assisting directly for either goal, the Italian was a catalyst for PSG, when on the field suddenly the rest of the team had new energy. Changing the game by adding a higher work rate than Pastore shows the quality in depth of this PSG squad, starting hopefuls will need to consistently be at their best.
