Andreas Christensen – Dominguez partnership the way to go for Schubert

Young Chelsea player Andreas Christensen arrived on loan over summer, mostly due to conjecture about struggling to get playing time. However since his arrival, he has formed a place for himself at right-centre back, growing in the plans of first Lucien Favre and now Schubert. His partnership with Alvaro Dominguez in the centre of defence is blossoming into one of understanding and teamwork, with Dominguez bringing the experience to match Christensen’s youthful energy. Occasionally caught out here, although that is expected, the development of this partnership could see Christensen stay for longer than just a loan deal at Borussia-Park.

A more clinical Juventus may challenge again

For the first time in this European campaign, Juventus were held in this match but still sit atop the group with seven points. Wins over Manchester City and Sevilla have seen them anoint themselves as kings of this group and one feels that if their forwards can be more clinical as a group then the Old Lady can challenge like last season. While Bayern are arguably stronger than last season and will present another barrier, Massimiliano Allegri’s team fought their way to the previous final with a combination of strong defence and outright tenacity. With a strong attacking element added, particularly after the loss of Carlos Tevez, we could see the Italians back there again.
