Ryan Mason wants to re-launch his career at Hull City and is set on justifying the club record fee of £12.5 million spent on obtaining his services.

“The club has shown a lot of faith in me and hopefully I can repay that with some good performances,” said the 25-year-old.

“I’ve been at a very big club and played in European games and I put pressure on myself to perform week in and week out. It will be no different here.

“It is a big fee, but I am sure I can do enough to justify that.”

The tenacious Tottenham graduate was in high demand during the window, with numerous clubs putting in offers. The potential to lineup alongside former teammates Tom Huddlestone, Jake Livermore and Michael Dawson was ultimately too good for Mason to pass up.

“Michael Dawson called me up to see where I was at. He didn’t need to sell the club to me because I know what the club’s about and I know a lot of the players,” added Mason.

“There’s a good squad here and there’s some characters in the squad. My gut instinct was to come here. I’m happy with that decision. Hopefully we can have a good season and I can’t wait to get started now.”

All eyes will be on the Englishman as he looks set to join the centre of midfield for the Tigers’ upcoming match against Burnley on the weekend.
