Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix have drawn 0-0 in a lacklustre night at Allianz Stadium on Thursday.
The two sides were deadlocked throughout, with the closest either came to scoring in the 83rd minute through Sky Blues captain Alex Brosque, who rattled the woodwork.
The real highlight of the evening were three banners unveiled by The Cove, echoing the sentiments of many a football fan. Fouls and yellow cards seemed endemic, with a total of 43 (Sydney 29 and Wellington 14) and eight yellow cards.
Twitter was awash with comment on a plethora of topics, including those fouls, Thursday night football, referee Chris Beath and a certain News Corp employee with the initials RW. Here’s the best of what the internet had to offer.

Why does the @ALeague bother with mid-week games, let alone in Sydney, where fans are notoriously fair weather? #SYDvWEL
