The Hunter Stadium curse continues for Melbourne Victory after they failed to earn a single point away to the Jets on Friday night.
A vintage David Carney strike was enough for the home side who weathered the Victory’s first half onslaught to register their second win of the season.
Despite bossing possession and controlling the tempo of the match, Kevin Muscat’s men were thwarted by a motivated Ben Kennedy between the sticks.
The best of the chances fell to Scott Miller’s men however, with Milos Trifunovic passing up a hat-trick of extremely score-able chances before being bailed out by Carney’s drive from distance.
Not at all the result that Victory fans were after, the Jets’ supporters were pleasantly surprised by their side’s performance.
Here are the best Twitter reactions to come from the 90 minutes in Newcastle.
Full time! And the match fittingly ends with Trifunovic blazing a shot over the bar #NEWvMVC
