Germany kicked off their Euro 2016 campaign with a 2-0 win over Ukraine in Lille.
Germany entered the match as overwhelming favourites and unsurprisingly took the lead after Shkrodan Mustafi headed home a pinpoint free-kick from Toni Kroos.
However, Ukraine fought back in the closing stages of the first half and were unlucky not to equalise through a series of chances, most notably denied by a superb goal-line clearance from Jerome Boateng.
The second half was far more in favour of the world champions though as the likes of Toni Kroos and Sami Khedira firmly took control of the match. Ukraine’s defence stood firm though, with goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov making several fine stops.
However, the need for an equaliser pushed Ukraine too far forward in the dying minutes and Germany pounced as Bastian Schweinsteiger finished off a clinical counter-attack to seal the points.
Here are the some of the best reactions from Twitter:
Imbalanced #GER line-up for me. A lot of technically gifted midfielders but not much width. Fancy #UKR to snatch a point with their pace.

2-0, biggest win of the tournament, probably the best game too. Ukraine are great value, would be good to see them go through too #EURO2016

England dominate and concede in the last minute…Germany dominate and finish it off in the last minute…das ist der Unterschied #GERUKR
