There was no shortage of drama coming from Stamford Bridge after Chelsea rescued a 2-2 draw with Watford earlier tonight.
The Blues looked to prove their new confidence by controlling the early possession and took the lead through a Diego Costa volley just after the half-hour mark. Sticking to their usual businesslike strategy though, Quique Sanchez Flores’ men were gifted an equaliser after a corner met the wayward arm of Nemanja Matic just before halftime. Watford’s confidence would carry over into the second-half and the visitors took the lead after an Odion Ighalo shot received a fortunate deflection and beat Thibaut Courtois at the near-post. While Chelsea would throw the result away with Oscar’s ridiculous penalty attempt, some pressure was relieved when Costa completed his brace from close-range in the 65th minute.
Post-match opinion was divided among Chelsea fans, some seeing merit in the came-from-behind draw against the league’s seventh placed side, while others saw the game as just another step backward among a season of disaster, although there was plenty of criticism directed at Oscar’s attempted spot-kick.
Here are the best reactions to come from Twitter after the result:
Not good enough. #CFC

We were unlucky not to walk away with 3 points today. Great performance from the boys, really pressed Watford. #KTBFFH #CFC

Story of #CFC's season: take the lead, individual error to allow opposition back in. Concede in second half. Lose at home. Going that way.

Those fans who booed Diego Costa last week? Well, they're singing his name now. Amazing what a couple of goals can do. #CFC

When is a home draw against Watford a good result? Suppose sums up our season, well at least Costa found the net, twice! #chewat #CFC

I would actually love to see Mikel / Ruben Loftus Cheek instead of the usual Matic and Fabregas. #CFC #Chelsea
