Sheffield Wednesday have halted Arsenal’s strong recent form in emphatic fashion, with a 3-0 victory in front of a raucous Hillsborough crowd.

In the first half Arsenal lost key players Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott to injury inside 20 minutes.
It appeared to galvanise the home side, who took the lead on 27 minutes when Ross Wallace struck a fierce low drive past a despairing Petr Cech.
Things went from bad to worse with five minutes of normal time remaining in the first half, after a powerful header from Lucas Joao flew in and had Cech rooted to the spot.
And after the break the game was put to bed following an expertly taken free-kick routine that saw Wednesday’s Sam Hutchinson tap in from point-blank range.
Here are some of the best reactions on Twitter following Arsenal’s torrid evening:
Don’t take my word for the #AFC performance and ineptitude. Ask the 4000 who’ve travelled when they get home at 2am.

Poor from the youngsters but a blessing in disguise. Really not bothered, pointless competition. #AFC — Billy Carroll (@BillyCarroll_) October 27, 2015
I’m all for giving young players a chance, but Wenger was a bit too complacent that it would be a walkover. Cup games are never certain #AFC
