Adelaide United’s wayward start to 215-16 continued with a 3-0 loss to the Brisbane Roar earlier tonight.
With the coach needing a positive result the start of the match could not have gone worse for the Reds, with the hosts taking the lead within 10 minutes through Brandon Borello.
Although finding their feet in the contest, few chances on goal were generated by the Reds before halftime. Similarly to last weekend’s outing in the West, Guillermo Amor’s men dominated possession and had numerous chances inside the attacking-third, their failure to capitalise was punished by a goal for Jamie Maclaren and a second from Borello.
Reaction after the game focused on the controversial referee decision which saw Maclaren denied a first-half penalty, while Adelaide fans bemoaned another poor showing from their team, the blame now turning to Amor’s tactical decisions.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the result:
The scariest thing this Halloween is Jamie Young in goal. Apart from that everything’s good ?. #BRIvADL???

Worst part of this game is United sitting 20′ deeper than last week. Unlikely to see any Roar counter attacking worldies tonight. #BRIvADL — Nick Chalmers (@nazchaz) October 31, 2015
Buy the mascots new kits. They look like they’ve been sleeping too rough #BRIvADL

For a pair of back-up keepers, Jamie Young and John Hall are doing pretty damn well. #BRIvADL

Possession is just a style. It’s not innately a measure of dominance or quality. Pundits need to stop acting like it is #BRIvADL — shaboogen (@shaboogen) October 31, 2015
Maybe this silly light blue “clash” (with what?) strip is a jinx for us. #BRIvADL #aleague #COYR

And it’s time for the old Adelaide three at the back. And it didn’t really work. #BRIvADL — Gil (@gilalbertson) October 31, 2015
Not sure if more painful watching Adelaide right now or the fact that they will probably beat us next week #BRIvADL

#BRIvADL Adelaide United have revered back to their bad old habits I see. How long will Amor last?
