Adelaide United and Western Sydney Wanderers had to settle for a point each in a 1-1 draw on Friday night.
In an error-riddled clash Adelaide United opened the scoring after superb build-up play from defender Tarek Elrich, who weaved his wave into the box and his cross was deflected in off the head of opponent Andreu Guerao.
But the man left red-faced by the own goal would redeem himself with just seven minutes of normal time to play by smashing in the equaliser into the roof of the net from eight yards, following incidentally a stray pass by Elrich.
Both teams remain winless after the opening two rounds, despite encouraging signs in an attacking sense.
Here’s the best of the reaction from Twitter throughout the game and at the full-time whistle:
Cannot believe how the team we had has become so bad. Poor retention & recruitment #ADLvWSW

Hey Wanderers, passing it to your own players will make life so much easier! Trust me! Try it! #ADLvWSW — Matt (@MisfitWanderer) October 16, 2015

And just for a change of pace, Castelen decides to take too many touches and shoot for the near post #ADLvWSW

I always wondered why Babalj never succeeded at any club. After tonight’s showing, it’s safe to say there will be no more chances. #ADLvWSW — Darko (@darko_music) October 16, 2015

Amor doesn’t look like a touchline knee slide kinda bloke. Shame. #ADLvWSW #GombauStyle — James (@JamesK_1312) October 16, 2015
If @AdelaideUnited played with the pace & directness of the last 10mins of the #ADLvWSW, they’d not only win this match but the championship

Disappointing, in the end. Two draws at home. Still no Red on the scoreboard. Good to have Elrich back. Hall more settled. #ADLvWSW #COYR — Rob McLean (@P10Rob) October 16, 2015
Cirio is a super player but he’s absolutely wasted as a No.9. Creativity in final third disappeared in 2nd half. 2 pts squandered. #ADLvWSW

Andreu the best man on the pitch… for both teams. #ADLvWSW pic.twitter.com/KAJkdUeE7p
