Liverpool have crowned the first match of the new Main Stand with a 4-1 victory against Leicester City.
Roberto Firmino opened the scoring on 13 minutes, after a fine through ball from James Milner released the Brazilian who turned Robert Huth inside out and finished with aplomb.
The Reds doubled their advantage following a crisp move which saw Daniel Sturridge release the ball to an on-rushing Sadio Mane, who lobbed Kasper Schmeichel with a neatly timed chip.
It was all the home side deserved, only for Lucas Leiva to inextricably gift Jamie Vardy one of the easiest goals of his career when he panicked under pressure and played an in-field ball across goal to the striker to tap in from close range.
Liverpool added a third with Adam Lallana firing a rocket into the top left-hand corner with a fierce strike from just inside the area.
And on 88 minutes the Reds put the icing on the cake when Sadio Mane rounded Schmeichel and laid the ball into the path for Firmino to grab a brace.

Results like this make it even more annoying that we stumbled against Burnley and a very lucky Tottenham team #LFC

There will be tougher tests than the champions at home for Liverpool this season though. Like, you know, Middlesbrough away. #LFC

In terms of what each player provides to this Jürgen Klopp set-up, Roberto Firmino may be the most important of all. Mané a close 2nd. #LFC

So far this season we’ve beaten last season’s 1st and 2nd and drew against 3rd, but we lost to a team that wasn’t even in the league,,, #LFC
