A monumental 30 minute turnaround saw Watford leave London Stadium with a 4-2 win over West Ham earlier tonight.
The hosts could not have begun the contest in a better manner, with Dimitri Payet’s first start of the season seeing the star Frenchman providing two assists for Michail Antonio – including a beautiful Rabona to the back post – that had the Hammers cruising early on.
It would all change by the half-time whistle, however, as James Collins deflected an Odion Ighalo strike past Adrian, before Troy Deeney took advantage of the pair’s lack of communication to equalise for the Hornets.
Looking stunned after the restart, West Ham would be helpless to stop Etienne Capoue’s volley putting the visitors in front and were further shocked when Jose Holebas sealed the comeback with a fourth.
Here are some of the best reactions to come from West Ham fans after the match:
When your team throws away a 2 goal lead to lose 4-2. Truly embarrassing #WHUWAT #WHUFC

Hard to work out what went wrong for #whufc today, other than a complete lack of desire & shambolic defending/attacking. Apart from that…

When do we hit the panic button? I can take losing against top 6 clubs, but these are the games we should always be winning #whufc

And they said they would ensure the stadium would not become a white elephant. It looks white to me. #WHUWAT #PremierLeague @hammerandtalk

I’m hoping we haven’t believed in our own hype from last season. Moving to a new stadium was always going to take time to settle #WHUFC

Adrian & Reid severely overrated, masuaku average, Collins past it & byram not up to it. Fact.
