Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter overcame a tragic week following the loss of his baby girl by helping his side defeat Manchester United on Saturday.

The midfielder made the brave decision to play just days after the death of his daughter in midweek.

“While people maybe grieve in their own way, I found it easier to come in and play and try and do everyone proud,” he told the official Bournemouth website.

The 25-year-old was substituted in the 86th minute after putting in a shift in the heart of the Bournemouth midfield.

He was given a rousing reception by the home fans and embraced on the touchline by manager Eddie Howe.

In his post-match interview, Howe praised the Republic of Ireland international following the emotional week.

“I think he’s handled himself with real dignity throughout the process, and to play the way he did today, with the emotions running through his body, I can’t credit him enough for that,” Howe said.

Arter was praised by many following the performance and rightly so. In what would have been one the most difficult weeks that anyone can endure, he remained professional and deserves to be credited.

There may have been some great individual performances over the weekend, but none more brave than that of Arter’s, who is Outisde90’s Hero of the Week.
