Everton midfielder Ross Barkley is set to sign a new long-term deal with Everton, according to the Daily Mail.

It is understood new manager Ronald Koeman wants to tie down the 22-year-old, who has already made a big impression on him during his short time at the club.

Barkley has been a vital cog for the Toffees, making 117 appearances and scoring 17 goals in his career at Goodison Park.

The highly-rated attacking midfielder has two years left on his current contract and Everton are desperate to secure his future with rival clubs constantly linked during transfer windows.

Discussions have begun with Barkley’s advisors about a new long-term deal for a player Koeman and the board see as being an integral part of Everton’s future success.

Another key focus for Everton is to retain the services of in-demand striker Romelu Lukaku, who was heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park during the off-season.
