Having won another Bundesliga trophy after his best individual season so far, few players will have the kind of momentum coming into Euro 2016 on their side as Germany’s Thomas Müller.

Role in the team

In a Die Mannschaft setup that appears to be very midfield-heavy, Müller’s ability to adapt to nearly any attacking situations will keep opponents guessing. With Lukas Podolski and Mario Gomez the only recognised strikers named in Joachim Löw’s final squad, the Munich star could be dispatched as a false striker should the coach want a hitman possessing a higher-profile reputation, or he can create in combination with the star-studded midfield from both the centre and the wings.

The now 26-year-old has always stolen the spotlight among Löw’s feared unit, claiming the Golden Boot and Best Young Player awards at the 2010 World Cup after recording five goals, then finishing runner-up top scorer for the 2014 tournament which the Germans won.

Recent form

One of the deadliest attacking forces across Europe’s top leagues, Müller was at the forefront of another Bayern Munich charge to Bundesliga glory in 2015-16. Die Roten had few challenges on their way to a record 26th German top-flight title, finishing the season 10 points clear of runners-up Borussia Dortmund. Working in tandem with the likes of Arturo Vidal, Mario Götze and soon to be Poland opponent Robert Lewandowski, the no.25 produced his most impressive record yet of 20 goals and five assists in the league, while also netting eight goals over nine appearances in the Champions League.

Conclusion

Still only 26-years-old, a look at Müller’s resume is already enough to leave one in awe and it may be in France where we see the peak of his development on the international level. One who always makes a mark on the big stages, sit back and watch what this genius of football produces at Euro 2016.
