The Foxes are deadly without Riyad Mahrez

In what was a bold decision by manager Claudio Ranieri, his Algerian star Riyad Mahrez was left out of the starting lineup, with the manager opting to play Schlupp and Mark Albrighton as the wingers.

Mahrez was largely ineffective and frustrated against Arsenal last week, but the decision to leave him out was a bold one and as with most of his decisions this year, Ranieri was vindicated.

The move also meant the Foxes could play with more width as he opted for traditional wingers as opposed to inverted.

Schlupp capitalised after a neat exchange with N’Golo Kante, while Albrighton was prominent in the first half in particular. Despite the Algerian’s omission, Leicester lost none of their attacking threat, blistering when on the counter, a sign of both depth and confidence within the Foxes squad.
