A goal from Arnautovic was enough to seal an away win for Stoke City against Aston Villa in a tight contest at Villa Park on Saturday.

After a dismal start to the Premier League season, Stoke have collected a crucial win while piling pressure onto Tim Sherwood. The loss Leaves Villa in 18th place, the same position they were in at the end of last season.

Mark Hughes would be content with Marko Arnautovic’s game, as the attacker has not had the best of times at Stoke. He, however, nabbed the winner after 55 minutes.

Stoke City are now in 14th position but are still performing well below expectations in terms of the table. This game could have gone either way, with both teams displaying output that was by no means special.

The Austrian is at his best

Arnautovic has received the man of the match in Stoke City’s last two games and is now in incredible form. Against Bournemouth he did not score but created chances and registered an assist. Against Villa, he got on the scoresheet and was a contributing factor to Stoke’s victory. Last season the Austrian struggled and supporters were begging for a transfer out of Stoke. In two seasons and 59 games, he only scored four goals. It seems he has been playing the wrong role for a while now as his two goals in the current season suggest. He is one of the first names on the team sheet nowadays and has proved the naysayers wrong. Can he keep it up?
