Swansea lack passion

Swansea manager Garry Monk was very disappointed with his players after the match, stating afterward, “I feel gutted for the players. I feel we deserved more than we got”. He might be right that Liverpool were not a much better side, yet, Monk should be aware of their own mistakes. Swansea were npt passionate in this match. There was not much energy in the squad and most of the time all of the 11 players seemed pale.

Eder obviously struggles at Wales, with another terrible showing. Wayne Routledge had some moments on the right side of the match when he tried to do something, but nothing specific happened. Neil Taylor has been in very poor form which culminated with the penalty he was guilty for and Ashley Williams’ poor form did not help, as the captain was unable to inject energy in the game of his teammates.

Liverpool win in a poor fashion

The important thing for the Reds is victory and that will probably be the only thing Klopp will be completely satisfied with. Swansea did not utilise the long periods of time when Liverpool’s energy dropped. The hosts secured three points in a poor game, which is always an important thing for a team aiming European qualification.

Klopp’s side will have time to learn from this substandard showing, while not losing points. On the contrary, Liverpool are now placed sixth in the Premier League, only six points behind the leading Manchester City and Leicester City. Not too bad after only two straight victories.
