Berahino banishes the boo boys

It is fair to say it has been a turbulent few weeks for Berahino. Only three weeks ago, the striker was telling everyone on Twitter he would never play for West Brom again.

Now, after talks with managerial staff and the chairman, he was back in the blue and white striped shirt, and back on the scoresheet.

His celebration said a lot about his emotions at the moment. After toe-poking in James Morrison’s shot he reacted jubilantly, throwing both arms aloft in celebration. It had a feel of relief about it with a hint of child-like exhilaration.

It was not the best goal he has ever scored but it may be his most significant for the Baggies and it represents a rekindling of a relationship that last season had really started to blossom.

If you needed any indication of how the dynamic had changed within the club, the away fans were chanting only one players’ name at the end of the match. That was Berahino’s.
