Tottenham brushed aside West Ham in a fiery London Derby at White Hart Lane to move just two points off the top four and four points of the top, with Harry Kane, Toby Alderwiereld and Kyle Walker earning Tottenham the win.

Kane scored twice in each half, with Walker scoring with the outside of his right boot to aid his solid performance, albeit making a mistake which led to Manuel Lanzini’s and West Ham’s consolation goal.

Kane and Alderweireld gave Tottenham the lead in the first half which was close for the first 20 minutes before Spurs took charge. Cheikho Kouyate hit the bar with a spectacularly powerful bicycle kick that could have brought West Ham straight back into this London Derby.

Kane could have made it 3-0 with a one-on-one with West Ham goalkeeper Adrian, but pushed the shot across the goal and post. The Hammers were not to be ruled out, however, with a header from a set piece but was easily dealt with by Hugo Lloris in the Spurs goal.

The second half began as it left off in the first. Within five minutes, Spurs and Kane made it 3-0. Terrible decision-making at the back from West Ham meant they were punished, with James Tomkins’ pass being intercepted by Dane Christian Eriksen, who then found Kane to shoot from 20 yards out.

A small scuffle resulted in Mauricio Pochettino splitting up the group of Tottenham and West Ham players, with Mark Noble and Dele Alli receiving yellow cards. Noble will now miss the Hammers’ next match.

Kyle Walker then made it 4-0 in a dominant performance from Tottenham, and it could have been another with a shot which struck the post from substitution Ryan Mason. Lanzini brought West Ham’s only goal after a relatively quiet game from the Argentine.
