Tim Sherwood is struggling

At a club that has plenty of money, great players and limited pressure, it can be easy for a manager to keep their job. Of course, Jose Mourinho has that at the moment and he is struggling. But Tim Sherwood is not doing too well at Aston Villa, a club stuck in mid-table. Maybe Sherwood is not suited to manage a club with a lot of pressure to avoid relegation. Perhaps he needs to be at a bigger club like Tottenham, his former employer, to succeed at his job. If he leads Aston Villa to 17th place just like former manager Paul Lambert did last season, one assumes his position would hang by a thread. After selling their two best players he has been criticised for bringing in younger, inexperienced players when Villa really need proven Premier League stars. Sherwood has spent more than £50 million to keep the consistent Villans up in the Premier League, but that investment does not seem enough to keep the Villans out of the Championship at present.

It has clicked for Stoke City but consistency still neeeded

With wins in their last two league games, it seems Stoke have found the secret to success. While struggling to win in earlier games, they have continuously performed well but have not competed for 90 minutes and have dropped points because of it. If the Potters are to climb the table, they need to put together full games consistently. A draw against Spurs one week is something to hang the hat on, but to go and drop points at newly-promoted Norwich City the week later should feel like a step backward. Consistency can be the difference between 17th and 7th or even relegation and survival.
