The ‘Battle of Britain’ promises Euro 2016 observers not only an emotionally charged group stage encounter, but also some dream individual match-ups on the pitch.

Ahead of tonight’s England vs Wales blockbuster, the gang at oulala.com have taken an in-depth look at the opening game performances of two key players from either side – beginning with two creative and pacy midfielders in the forms of Dele Alli and Aaron Ramsey.

Although many fans joked at the potential Ramsey brought to the Wales team after seeing so little domestic game time in 2015-16, he leads the England upstart in many key areas. In the Dragons’ 2-1 win over Slovakia, the 26-year-old provided the assist for Hal Robson-Kanu’s goal, recorded 34 successful passes, won two tackles and took three shots on goal.

Meanwhile, after a stellar breakout season with Tottenham Hotspur, big things were expected from Alli at this tournament, yet in the 1-1 draw with Russia he failed to grasp the opportunity. The EPL Young Player of the Year completed only 28 passes, created one chance and took two shots on goal.
